/ liner notes · the story behind
Heels on My Hand — a chic-house concept album about the long walk home.
Heels on My Hand is Rebecca Muze's latest album on her independent Sydney label VELA. It's a six-track concept album set across one unraveling night — the breakup, the escape to the dancefloor, the temptation, the vow, the numb routine of pretending you're fine, and the truth that finally catches up on the barefoot walk home. Out now.
The sound — chic vocal house, melodic heartbreak
Heels on My Hand lives on the dancefloor. The palette is chic house, vocal house and melodic heartbreak house — warm 4/4 grooves, deep filtered piano stabs, clipped guitar riffs, Rebecca's vocal placed close to the mic so the confession lands even when the kick is loud. It's dance music for people who like the words to mean something — a party you can cry to.
The story, track by track
- 01. Don't Call Me Back — the breakup. A phone call that ends everything. Sub-bass low, voice closer than it should be.
- 02. Feel the Rhythm — the escape. Dancing to forget. Classic vocal house energy, head down, hands up.
- 03. Velvet Venom — the temptation. Hypnotised by words that wound. Hooky and dangerous.
- 04. Never Again — the vow. Guarding a heart that's already broken. The album's emotional pivot.
- 05. Another Day — the mask. Dancing alone, telling herself she's okay. Bright on the surface, hollow underneath.
- 06. Numb — the truth. The morning the pretending stops. Stripped back, just voice and a slow pulse.
