The Story Behind Heels on My Hand: Every Stage of Letting Go

She left the party barefoot and walked home through every stage of letting go. Heels on My Hand is the sound of a single night unravelling — six songs that sound like a party and feel like a heartbreak.

Heels on My Hand is my new six-track concept album, out Friday 26 June 2026 via my label VELA (VELA 003). It's a record about the long walk home after a breakup — and every messy, beautiful stage of letting go that happens between the last text and the morning after.

I wanted to make something that sounded like a night out and felt like a goodbye. Chic, warm house music on the surface; quietly devastating underneath. So the album follows one night, in order, from the call that ends everything to the barefoot walk home when the truth finally catches up.

What is Heels on My Hand about?

It's a concept album — meaning the six tracks tell one continuous story rather than standing apart. Each song is a stage of heartbreak. You can dance to all of it. You can also cry to all of it. That tension is the album.

The tracklist — every stage of letting go

  1. 01 Don't Call Me Backthe breakup. A phone call that ends everything. The cold open. The line you can't take back, set to a beat that won't let you sit still.
  2. 02 Feel the Rhythmthe escape. Dancing to forget. The dancefloor as a place to disappear — where the bass is louder than your thoughts.
  3. 03 Velvet Venomthe temptation. Hypnotised by words that wound. The new voice in your ear that feels good and is very bad for you.
  4. 04 Never Againthe vow. Guarding a heart that's already broken. The promise you make at 2am that you might not keep.
  5. 05 Another Daythe mask. Dancing alone, telling yourself you're fine. The performance of being okay, for an audience of no one.
  6. 06 Numbthe truth. The morning the pretending stops. Heels in your hand, sun coming up, finally feeling it — or finally feeling nothing.

Why "heels on my hand"?

It's the most honest image I had for the end of a heavy night: the shoes come off, you carry them home, and somewhere on that walk the armour comes off too. The heels are the costume of the night out. Carrying them is the moment you stop performing.

Six songs that sound like a party and feel like a heartbreak. Chic, warm, and quietly devastating.

The sound: chic vocal house

Musically this album lives in chic house, vocal house and what I've started calling heartbreak house — melodic, late-night dance music with confessional, vocal-led songwriting. If you love a groove that makes you move but lyrics that make you ache, this one's for you.

It's the follow-up to my EP Arabian Nights (VELA 002, out now), and the next chapter of the VELA story that started with my debut single SCANDAL.
